What is a weekly planner template?

A weekly planner template is a ready-made page with all seven days side by side and the hours of the day down the side, so you can block out classes, work, workouts and free time for the whole week at once. You fill it in, then print it or keep it on your phone.

This one runs in your browser. Every template shows Sunday to Saturday from 6 AM to 10 PM in 30-minute steps. Each block has a title, a time, a color and an optional note, and nothing else: no accounts, no team members, no rooms. It’s an undated weekly planner, so the same page works for any week. Open Settings to start the week on Monday or to change the hours.

Your planner is saved in this browser as you edit. Share makes a link that shows it read-only, and Download gives you a printable PDF, an image, a phone wallpaper or a calendar file.

How to plan your week with a weekly planner template

Planning a week takes about 15 minutes, and it works best on the same day each week, such as Sunday evening. Start with the template that’s closest to your week, or the blank undated planner, and fill it in this order:

  1. Fixed commitments first. Add work, classes, school drop-off and appointments. These don’t move, so everything else fits around them.
  2. Sleep and meals. Put in when you wake up, eat and go to bed. A day with no room for dinner is a plan you won’t follow.
  3. Your priorities. Pick two or three things that matter this week, such as a project, a test or a workout goal, and give each one a block with a real start time.
  4. Buffers. Leave empty half hours between blocks. Things run late, and a planner with no gaps falls apart by Tuesday.
  5. Review. At the end of the week, look at what got done and what moved, and use that to plan the next one.

One block can repeat on several days: tap Mon to Fri in the form and it’s one entry, so changing its time changes every day. Colors work best as categories, such as blue for work, green for exercise and purple for study, so you can see your balance at a glance. Use the note for details you’d otherwise have to remember, like a chapter number or a set count.

This weekly planner online is for one person’s week. To schedule a team’s shifts, use the auto schedule maker, and for a class timetable, the class schedule maker.

How to create a study schedule

A study schedule turns “I’ll study this week” into set times for each subject. Here’s how to create a study schedule you’ll actually keep:

  1. List every deadline. Write down tests, papers and projects for the next few weeks, with their dates.
  2. Block out fixed time. Add classes, work shifts, practice and sleep, so you can see which hours are really free.
  3. Choose study blocks of 45 to 90 minutes. Shorter sessions are easier to start. Many students use the Pomodoro method: 25 minutes of focus, then a 5-minute break.
  4. Spread each subject over the week. Put harder subjects at the time of day you focus best. Studying a subject a little on several days, and quizzing yourself instead of rereading, helps you remember more than one long night of cramming.
  5. Add a weekly review. A short block each weekend to check what’s due next and adjust the plan.
  6. Keep one free evening. Rest is part of the schedule, not a reward for finishing it.

The study plan template follows these steps: classes from 8 AM to 3 PM, one subject each afternoon, a shorter evening session, a practice test on Saturday and a review on Sunday. That adds up to 14½ hours of study outside class, with Friday evening off.

Example: a weekly study schedule (14½ hours of study outside class)

For a single exam, count back from the test date and give each topic at least two sessions on different days, with the last session for a practice test.

Daily routine ideas for adults and kids

A routine takes small decisions off your plate. Build it once, and the same blocks repeat every week.

For adults, a few anchors are enough:

  • A steady wake-up time, even on weekends, with breakfast before screens.
  • A focus block in the morning for your most important work.
  • Movement three or more days a week: a walk, the gym or a class.
  • A wind-down half hour before bed, with no phone. Most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep.
  • One weekly reset for groceries, errands and meal prep.

The daily routine template builds this around a 9-to-5 job, and the work from home template splits a remote day into deep work, meetings and a hard stop at 5 PM.

For kids, a daily routine chart works best when it’s simple and the same every day. Keep blocks short, keep the same order each morning and night, and add a picture to each block so children who can’t read yet can follow along. The kids’ routine template has an emoji on every block, from ⏰ wake-up to 😴 bedtime, and you can add your own with the emoji row in the block form. School-age children need 9 to 12 hours of sleep, so the template has bedtime at 8 PM and wake-up at 6:30 AM on school days.

Put the printed chart at your child’s eye level and walk through it together for the first week. Letting them check off each block helps the routine become theirs.

Printing your free printable weekly planner

Open Download and pick a PDF. Both are one page on US Letter paper (8½ × 11 inches), with the whole week on it:

  • Portrait gives each half hour a taller row, so there’s more room to write by hand. It’s the better fit for a binder or a desk.
  • Landscape gives each day a wider column, so longer titles fit. It’s the better fit for a fridge or a wall.

In the print dialog, choose Actual size or 100% scale; the PDF already has margins. For a blank weekly planner printable, open the blank undated planner, set the hours you want in Settings, and print as many copies as you need. Each page has a “Week of” line to fill in and faint half-hour lines to write between.

To keep your plan on your phone instead, choose Phone wallpaper for a lock-screen image, or Calendar (.ics) to add every block to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. You pick the start date and whether it repeats for 1, 4 or 12 weeks, or with no end. Save file keeps a copy you can load again later with Open file.
